For a while I have been trying to figure out the best way to stack a cheeseburger to get the ultimate taste experience. I have studied the way McDonalds and Hungry Jacks have done it to get some ideas. Today I was given the opportunity to put my instincts to the test. Here’s how it went.
The Beef Burgers
We bought the second most expensive beef patties from the supermarket. We had tried them before and they are really thick. The last time I used them they didn’t seem to reduce in size at all. I remember when I was little, the burgers we bought used to shrink to the size of small biscuits in no time.
Got home and realised we were missing lettuce. I was worried at first but decided to continue anyhow and make do with what we had. So this is what we had.
Ingredients
- Hamburger buns
- Beef patties
- 1/2 onion
- Cheese
- Tomato
- Mayonnaise
- Ketchup (tomato sauce)
- Mustard sauce
The Layers
First we had the bread base. Then I spread mayonnaise on both sides. Then I placed the fried onion slices. Ketchup on top of that. Then the beef patty. Some mustard on top of the beef and then thin cheese slices. Tomato slices on top and placed the mayo filled bun on the top to seal the deal.
The Result
Un-be-lieve-able! I couldn’t have pictured such a happy ending while I was making all of this. Too good for words, too good for pictures. It’s just the best thing I have created kitchen-wise in a while. Probably up there with my chicken and cream sauce fettucine (more details in a futute post).
So what do you think? Too little ingredients? Too many? Is lettuce essential? How do you like your cheeseburgers and better yet, how do you STACK your burger?
I realise I may have possibly given away a powerful secret recipe here, but I’m a simple person. If I stumble across something great, then nothing would make me happier than having others share it and agree with my thoughts.
