The following is a famous poem that has been falsely accredited to many authors. It seems to belong to Bessie Stanley.
He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction.
-Bessie Stanley
Yesterday I was left to think about what my life has become and how I will fulfil the rest of my life. I was overcome by a feeling of guilt. I’m quarter of a century old. Mentally, physically and psychologically, these years should be my best.
I feel that there is more I can do to make a positive impact on the place I live. While I haven’t yet discovered what that may be, I do feel that I’m wasting my time by not participating in the community where I live.
All I can really do is accomplish my tasks well and be proud of the person I am. I don’t know where to start but I will try to live better and laugh (more) often.
