My Letter to the Universe

At this point in time, I forgive myself for my failures and short-comings. I forgive the mistakes of the past.

I accept who I am in the present and I am proud of who I have become

I forgive everyone who has ever wronged me

All situations that were hard to bare are now in the past

While I have regrets, I think that they were necessary to go through as they have become my greatest teachers

I am here to embrace a new chapter in my life

I welcome all the good that awaits me

I am surrounded by beauty and opportunities

Thank you

Smile now, cry later

If you are young and have no long term commitments (children, marriage) then I encourage you to go after what you want even if this means breaking or even exceeding your budget.

Let’s be realistic, you’ll be able to pay back your debt within a year. Go overseas, travel, get a loan, buy a car. It is liberating, humbling and the best way to appreciate what you have. It provides the motivation you need to get going.

While I have never liked to spend all I have, I haven’t been a long term saver either. Recently, I’ve taken to make the most of the present and spend without remorse.

What I have learned is that you can never really be free until you spend more than you have. There is nothing more humbling than hitting rock bottom.

You can never really appreciate what you have until you are broke.

What better motivation than to not have any money and realise you’ve got yourself to get out of this mess.

Remember, being broke is temporary, being poor is long term.

Appreciate what you have although somtimes you will need to hit rock bottom to achieve this.

Success or failure depends more upon attitude than upon capacity. Successful men act as though they have accomplished or are enjoying something. Soon it becomes a reality. Act, look, feel successful, conduct yourself accordingly, and you will be amazed at the positive results.

Normally I don’t give away great food recipes on this blog but I thought I’d share a pleasant experience.

My girlfriend made me a great chicken sandwich consisting of:

  • Boiled chicken breast
  • mayonnaise
  • lettuce (cut thin)
  • tomato, coriander, onion (like a salsa/salad)
  • basil leaves (cut thin)
  • green olives (pitted and sliced)

Incredible fusion of flavours. I still can’t get over it. Besides the mayo, the sandwich is pretty healthy. The only thing I might add to it is a bit of cracked pepper next time but this treat was truly impressive. I wish I could share a photo with you all but there was simply no time.
